Maria Clark, Principal

Dear East Side Families,

I am so excited to begin my second year as principal of East Side Elementary. Throughout my first year learning what East Side is all about, I have learned the following:

-Our students come to school ready and excited to learn each day making East Side the best place to teach.

-Our staff goes above and beyond on a daily basis making East Side the best place to learn.

-Our community and parents are involved, volunteering countless hours and energy, making East Side the best place to lead.

As you can tell, East Side is embracing Cobb County School District’s priority of being the best place to teach, lead, and learn.

We are also always embracing Cobb County School District’s Mission of One team, One goal, Student Success. At East Side, we are dedicated to working together to reach each one of our 1,200+ students on an individual level to help them feel safe at school, loved at school, and challenged to meet their potential and exceed that potential on a daily basis. We work to serve the whole child and feel that student’s social, emotional, and academic wellbeing are all equally important! We work hard to carry out our theme of ‘East Side Be Kind’ in all that we do!

In my first year serving East Side during the 2019-2019 school year, I was fortunate to get to know many parents and community members. If I haven’t had a chance to meet you yet, I look forward to doing so soon. To give you a little background on who I am, I have just completed my twenty first year of serving as an educator in the Cobb County School District. Throughout these twenty one years, I have been fortunate to have the opportunity to serve in a variety of schools. Those include Riverside Elementary, Brumby Elementary, and Mt. Bethel Elementary. I have served in roles as Kindergarten teacher, Lead Teacher, Academic Coach, and Assistant Principal.

On a personal level, my family and I are residents of East Cobb and we are truly invested in the community. My husband Mark works in the software industry as a Sales Manager, and we have two daughters; Ainsley, a rising 9th grader and Addison, a rising 6th grader. Both girls swim on a competitive year-round swim team which keeps us all very busy.  My family also enjoys trips to the beach, skiing, and enjoying time with neighbors and friends.  We are very active in the East Cobb Community and you are likely to see us around and about in the area…………….if you do, please say hello! It’s fun to see the students outside of the school setting!

I believe that strong relationships between school, family and community are vital to the success of a school and I look forward to building these partnerships with each and every one of you.

I hope that each of you have a wonderful summer. I cannot wait to see all of our Eagles back in the building on August 1st!

All the best,

Maria Clark
